Perhaps the biggest challenge facing the global fashion industry today is how to merge the art of style with the science of substance. As the fashion industry progresses in its pursuit of giving back and supporting the community, our editorial team at inFATuated Media is constantly searching for local Toronto events which combine fashion with philanthropy. One such event, which takes place tonight (Wednesday, June 26 from 6 PM to 8:30 PM) at Wychwood Barns, is The Fashionable Escape.

Presented by African designer Precious Threads by Abiola, this fashion fundraiser aims to bring awareness and support to victims of domestic violence. Benefitting Women’s Habitat, a treatment centre and shelter which supports women and children, this event holds particular significance as Abiola is also a two time survivor of domestic violence. However, in an inspirational twist of fate, this empowering creative force also aims to raise funds to hire at least one of these women to join her Precious Threads team.

The event opens its doors at 6 PM, and the evening kicks off with cocktails & hors d’oeuvres. As well, a cash bar, silent auction and a high fashion runway show, inspired by the catwalks of New York Fashion Week, complete the glamorous festivities. Arts and culture enthusiasts can stay tuned for an exclusive ballet performance by dancer Alexa Kastellanos. Fashion Foundry is the official PR team behind the event, while creative and event management agency Pearls & Sequence leads up the event conceptualization. Meanwhile, Canadian musical sensation YourDJTNT brings the beats. The Fashionable Escape’s other sponsors include:

  • Efe Magazine
  • Want Management
  • B&M Models
  • Annalay Accessories
  • Janielle McKoy
  • Osato Erebor
  • Jacque Artistry
  • Sweet Pea Loungewear

Supported by Vlisco and New Leaf Yoga as well, the event promises to be an arts and design spectacle with a great cause and plenty of heart as well. For tickets, please check out Eventbrite. inFATuated hopes to see you there tonight!
